Many vessels have propulsion systems where fixed pitch propeller is mounted on a steerable gondola (“pod”) which also contains the electric motor driving the propeller. Electric power for the propulsion motor is transferred through slip rings which enables the propulsion unit to rotate 360 degrees around the vertical axis. Beside vessels these propulsion systems are used also in offshore oil rigs which are not anchored to the ocean bottom.
Combinent has long history of producing marine slip rings for propulsion systems working in critical solutions in highly demanding environment.
